MIT Updates for the 2026 Plan Year
Monday, December 29, 2025
As we prepare for the 2026 benefit year, Members’ Insurance Trust (MIT) would like to thank all MIT members for their continued support. For more than 40 years, MIT has remained committed to offering comprehensive, diverse, and thoughtful benefits tailored to South Carolina’s medical community. As a self‑funded MEWA supported by SCMA, our mission extends beyond insurance—MIT’s physician led Board of Trustees along with MIT’s leadership team are dedicated to supporting the long‑term health and success of the physician practices we serve.
Each year, MIT evaluates plan offerings to ensure they meet the evolving needs of medical practices, respond to changes in the healthcare landscape, and uphold our values of providing trusted coverage and reliable service. For 2026, the MIT leadership team is introducing several strategic updates to our benefits portfolio. Full details are available on MIT’s website on the Resources page Forms & Resources – SCMA MIT.
Key highlights include:
Diverse Plan Options
MIT will continue offering 10 medical plan designs, allowing practices to choose coverage that best fits their financial and healthcare needs. Options include:
- 5 High Deductible Health Plans (HDHPs)
- 2 Major Medical Plans
- 3 Specialty Plans
For 2026, the IRS has increased the minimum deductible for HSA‑eligible HDHPs to $1,700 (individual) and $3,400 (family). This update will be reflected in HDHP Option I.
Total Trust Perks (Embedded Benefits)
MIT medical coverage includes built‑in perks designed to add value and protection. For 2026, MIT has enhanced these perks by replacing short‑term disability with accident and critical illness coverage for all primary covered members. Additional BuyUp coverage is also available for members and dependents.
MIT will continue offering:
- $15,000 Basic Life Insurance
- $15 MUSC Virtual Care Visits
- Express Scripts, MIT’s partner for Pharmacy Benefit Management (MIT Express Scripts Formulary)
- Blue Solutions Administrator, MIT’s partner for claim administration and member access to the largest nationwide preferred provider network via the BlueCard (Blue Cross/Blue Shield)
- My Health Toolkit (My Health Toolkit)
